An extensive historic renovation of this 1890’s bank in Council Grove, coordinated through the Kansas Historical Society. The exterior work included replicating three of the roof corner spires that had to be replaced; removing an exterior wall and rebuilding a new brick front on the training entrance; and adding a heated, ADA entrance ramp. The interior work included leveling and raising floors, moving walls, closing existing open office space for more privacy; adding one new office; creating a small law library; adding false skylights; demolishing an old bathroom and building a new ADA bathroom in a different location; extensive new woodwork and doors; new floor and wall finishes; mechanical improvements; and installing a fire sprinkler system throughout all three levels of the building. Part of the challenge of this project was to complete the work while the bank was fully operational and also match existing unique hardware, ceilings, woodwork and other interior features. |
