Built in 1874, the Occidental
Hotel is the oldest standing brick structure in Wichita. Rainbow restored
the hotel and converted the building into commercial office and restaurant
space. The original courtyard and stables area was converted for use as
dining space for the restaurant. Using 19th century photographs as a guide,
Rainbow also duplicated the original balcony structure at the main entrance
which had been removed at some point in time, to restore the building
to its original architectural design.
